January = Garnet

Garnet Group- a group of differently colored minerals with similar crystal structure.The main members are: almandite and pyrope, (rhodolite is purplish-red to rose color red in between these two) , spessartite (orange to brown), grossularite, (green) andradite and uvarovite (lighter green demantoid garnets).

Garnet is a powerful and regenerative stone. It cleanses and regenerates the chakras. It is said to be able to warn of approaching danger, and was long ago carried as a protective talisman. Garnet inspires love and devotion. HEALING: Garnet regenerates the body. It stimulates the metabolism.

Tsavorite is one of the gem varieties of the garnet mineral called grossular. The more common gem variety of grossular is called hessonite. Gem quality tsavorite is found at Tsavo, Kenya. The green color is caused by trace amounts of vanadium. It is useful to have during challenges. It teaches relaxation and "going with the flow". It is excellent for arthritis and rheumatism.

Rhodolite Garnet is a warm, trusting and sincere gem. It stimulates contemplation, intuition and inspiration. It stimulates the metabolism and treats heart, lungs and hips. All red garnets represent love. Attuned to heart energy, it revitalizes feelings and enhances sexuality. Red garnet controls anger, especially towards oneself!
